Terre des Hommes

Together to celebrate love,

Together to fight against forced child marriage

Organizing beautiful weddings filled with love, family & friends for our couples is what we love to do most, but sadly not everyone in the world marries out of love and children are still forced into child marriages every day, where their wedding is far from the most beautiful day of their lives. Knowing that this is happening in the world and that a wedding can be the start of a life of abuse and exploitation for so many young girls is something we can't ignore. We think it is very special that we get to organize beautiful weddings for our couples and believe that there is room for a donation from the wedding budget to contribute to this cause. Fortunately, our couples think so too and they will help us reach our goal.

As of this year we can proudly say we will be working together with Terre des hommes and join them in the fight to stop child exploitation in the world. Every year we aim to raise an amount of at least €10,000 to contribute to stopping these child marriages. Through our “second hand wedding clothing pop-up store” and donations from our couples, we are getting closer to this goal! Are you joining us too?

Second hand Wedding clothing pop-up store

In general, wedding dresses are only worn once. A wedding suit or guests' clothing is also often doomed to hang in the closet and collect dust after one wear... Here we see an opportunity to tackle this more sustainably and thus raise money for Terre des Hommes.

This year we are organizing a pop-up store where we will sell second-hand wedding clothes. Our goal is to work with Terre des Hommes to fight against child marriage and child exploitation, at the same time making wedding clothing more sustainable while keeping wedding clothing affordable for people with a lower budget. All proceeds go to Terre des Hommes.

We will work together with various suppliers within the wedding industry who want to contribute. In addition, we would like to ask as many people as possible to donate their wedding clothes (from wedding dresses to bridesmaids' clothes to suits and even heels or shoes!).

Will you help us? Would you like to donate? Send us a message to receive more information about how you can donate clothing! Are you a wedding supplier and would you like to contribute or help? Let us know!

Terre des Hommes

Terre de Hommes wants a world in which all children have a human dignified existence and can grow up to become independent adults. A world where children are no longer exploited. They protect children by preventing and stopping child exploitation and empowering them to have their voices heard.

Worldwide, 160 million children are exploited. Every year about 1.5 million girls in India marry before their eighteenth birthday. A forced marriage. Many child brides no longer attend school. Terre des Hommes is committed to helping as many children (and their families) as possible.

The ambition of Terre des Hommes is to empower children in communities, connect them with powerful people to initiate change in order to use knowledge and expertise and reach solutions together with the ultimate goal of systemic change.
