To Theme Or Not To Theme

Are you thinking of having a theme at your wedding, but don't know how to get started? Let us help you! First, you can consider whether you want a subtle theme, such as a specific color or you can organize the entire wedding in a specific theme. Additionally, it's essential that the theme suits both of you, and there may be a particular movie, country, game, or hobby that brought you and your significant other together. In that case, the theme has a special meaning! It's also possible to give a part of your wedding a theme, such as the pre-wedding night, the party on your wedding day, or the brunch. In any case, there are plenty of ideas and to help you get started, we will share a few of our favorite themes with you ;)

"I will take the Ring, though I do not know the way”

We had the opportunity to organize a wedding with a theme that was nothing less than... "Lord of the Rings" and believe us when we say, this wedding was amazing. You might be wondering how such a theme would look, and we have the answer. The couple, for instance, had the rings brought in by birds of prey and the guests could practice archery during the reception. Gandalf stood at the entrance, the dinner was in a true Hobbit style and we, along with most guests, wore elf ears during the party. Oh, and well in advance, we provided the dress code. When in doubt, we advised everyone to ask themselves, "What would a hobbit wear?" (And our good friend Pinterest, of course, provided plenty of information). So, you see, any theme is possible for a wedding and we love it because we can let our creativity run wild together with the couple.

How to spice up the pre-wedding night, dinner, or brunch pool party?

The pre-wedding night provides an opportunity to kick off the wedding and break the ice for your guests. And how do you break the ice? Through a challenging dress code, for example! A pizza party naturally calls for an Italian theme, such as "The Sopranos" (aka the Italian mafia family). You don't have to get married in Italy for this; it's a way to bring Italy to your wedding. (Credits for this theme go to our Suus, who celebrated her birthday in The Sopranos style.) You can also ask everyone to bring a wig or headpiece to the pre-wedding night or to the dinner on the big day itself. This way, there will be no shortage of conversation topics, and you might discover your friends' alter egos. This will lead to lots of great photos, conversations, and a friendly atmosphere.

To end the weekend, a hangover brunch is a must and to make it even more enjoyable, you can combine it with a pool party. A pool party isn't a theme in itself, but you can get creative with it. Combining the pool party with the brunch is a perfect solution if you don't want to theme your entire wedding but still want to create a moment where everyone can dance, swim, and, of course, show off their best swimwear in a relaxed atmosphere. Put on some music, sunglasses on, cocktail in hand, and go! At Azza and Tom's wedding in South France last year, the pool party was organized in the style of MTV's "The Grind," which was a fantastic way to end the weekend. For inspiration, we're happy to share Azza and Tom's wedding video for a great wig party during the dinner and an amazing pool party! Or think of a 90s pool party where everyone dresses in aerobic outfits, and for the sporty ones among us, you can organize a fun water workout.

Le marriage est belle

France is not only a beautiful country to celebrate your wedding, but is also a great theme for your wedding. Entertain your guests with a game of Petanque, enjoy a glass of Pastis or good champagne at the reception (or vin d'honneur), where oysters are a must. For the cake, you can choose a traditional croquembouche, a tower of cream puffs. The dinner will naturally be served in the style of French cuisine, with an extensive cheese platter for all the cheese lovers among us. Discuss your big day with a brunch where everyone can enjoy (and recover;)) with a Croque Monsieur as a remedy.

Colors, colors, colors…

With a specific color or color scheme, you can ensure that all guests coordinate nicely. You can have everyone wear a specific color or multiple colors. For our "That's Amore" wedding the signature colors were orange, green and purple and this came back in all their stationary. For the OCD people among us, this is one less thing to worry about on their big day, and it will look great in all the photos. We also provide wedding websites for our couples, which contain essential information for all the guests, such as the location, the nearest hotels, but also space for a clear photo collection with the dress code! That way, you can be sure everyone received the dress code clearly.

Surfing your way down the aisle

The relaxed and friendly atmosphere of a festival is precisely the atmosphere we like to see at a wedding. Anything goes and anything is possible. A beautiful beach location is a perfect match for this. Feet in the sand, romantic lights everywhere, food trucks and cheerful flowers. To make your festival beach wedding complete, you can also organize a fun activity for your guests, such as a surf lesson. You can incorporate this into the styling; think of a beautiful welcome sign in the shape of a surfboard.

In short, there are plenty of ways to make your special day even more special. We hope we have inspired you for your beautifully styled organised chaos and if you get stuck, you know where to find us! We love nothing more than brainstorming with our couples about all the possibilities and creative ideas to create an unforgettable day together.
